Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions explain the rules that apply when you visit our website, use our online tools, request an estimate or schedule an appointment.

Effective:

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. By accessing or using this website, you agree to these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the website or its online tools.

1. Agreement to These Terms

These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of starterblindsandshades.com, its pages, forms, appointment tools, preliminary estimator, downloadable materials and related online features (collectively, the “Website”). They do not replace a written proposal, order confirmation, purchasing agreement, invoice, warranty or other project-specific document.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding agreement to request paid services or place an order.

2. About Starter Blinds and Shades

Starter Blinds and Shades offers a streamlined selection of professionally measured and installed window treatments in approved service areas. Glow Group is the parent company of Starter Blinds and Shades.

References to “Starter,” “we,” “us” or “our” mean Starter Blinds and Shades and the Glow Group entities that support its operations.

3. Website Use

We grant you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive and nontransferable right to use the Website for personal, lawful purposes, including reviewing products and pricing information, creating a preliminary estimate, contacting us and scheduling a measurement appointment.

Website availability may be interrupted for maintenance, updates, security, provider outages or other reasons. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any Website feature without prior notice.

4. Website Information

We work to keep Website information helpful and current, but photographs, illustrations, room scenes, product descriptions, colors, specifications, availability, prices and other content may contain errors or change without notice. Screens and device settings can affect how colors and textures appear. Digital images are not a substitute for reviewing physical hand samples.

Product availability, operating systems, materials, colors, options and size limitations are subject to manufacturer requirements and may change.

5. Online Estimates

Any estimate generated on the Website is a preliminary planning estimate based solely on the selections, quantities and dimensions entered by the user. It is not a quote, offer, order confirmation or promise to provide products or services at the displayed amount.

  • You are responsible for entering accurate information.
  • Online dimensions must not be used as manufacturing measurements.
  • Displayed totals may exclude or later change because of tax, unusual conditions, specialty requirements, product changes, installation needs or corrected information.
  • Product minimums, size limits, service-area rules and other eligibility requirements apply.

Final measurements, product selections, installation conditions, availability and pricing must be reviewed and confirmed before an order is placed.

6. Measurement Appointments

Appointments are subject to availability, approved service ZIP codes and applicable project minimums. The current Starter program generally requires at least eight eligible window treatments. We may contact you to confirm eligibility, access details or appointment information.

The professional measurement appointment fee is currently $40 plus any applicable tax. The fee is applied to the related Starter product purchase when the customer proceeds with an eligible order, subject to the terms presented during scheduling and in the final project documents.

During the appointment, we may professionally measure eligible openings, review the project, show product hand samples, discuss appropriate options and prepare the information needed to finalize an order. Scheduling or paying for a measurement appointment does not create a product order or guarantee that every requested opening, product or installation condition can be accommodated.

Cancellations and rescheduling

Appointment cancellation, rescheduling, lateness, access and refund rules displayed during booking or in the booking confirmation apply to the appointment. Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change an appointment.

7. Product Orders and Project Agreements

A product order is created only after all required project details are confirmed and the customer accepts the applicable final order documents and makes the required payment. The final documents may include the confirmed products, dimensions, options, price, taxes, payment schedule, estimated production time, installation scope, cancellation terms, warranty information and other project-specific terms.

Project documents control

If these Website terms conflict with a signed purchasing agreement, accepted proposal, order confirmation, invoice or other project-specific document, the project-specific document controls for that project.

Custom window treatments are made or ordered for a particular customer and opening. Cancellation, modification, return and refund rights for custom products are governed by the final project documents and applicable law.

8. Pricing, Taxes and Payments

Website prices and examples are subject to change and may vary by size, quantity, product, material, operating system, installation condition and other selections. Unless expressly stated otherwise, taxes are additional. Any quantity or package example is illustrative and does not guarantee the same total for a different project.

Payments may be processed through third-party payment providers. Available payment methods are determined by the provider and may change. You agree to provide accurate billing information and authorize the applicable charges that you approve. Payment terms for products and services are stated in the final project documents.

We may correct typographical, calculation or system errors and cancel or decline a transaction affected by a material error, subject to applicable law. If payment was collected for a transaction we cannot accept, we will address the payment in accordance with the applicable provider process and law.

9. Measurements, Site Conditions and Installation

Customer-entered measurements and Website estimates are preliminary only. Manufacturing dimensions must be confirmed through the approved project process. You are responsible for providing safe, timely access to the property and disclosing known conditions that may affect measurement or installation.

Installation timing is an estimate, not a guaranteed completion date. Production, shipping, weather, access, concealed conditions, electrical work, manufacturer delays and events outside our reasonable control may affect timing. The final project documents define the included installation services and any customer responsibilities.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

The Website may use or link to services operated by other companies, including Webflow, Zoho Forms, Zoho Bookings, Zoho Payments, Zoho SalesIQ, analytics providers, social networks and payment processors. Those services may have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control and are not responsible for the availability, content, security or practices of independent third-party services.

A link to another website does not imply endorsement. You use third-party services at your own discretion and subject to their applicable terms.

11. Communications

When you submit a form, schedule an appointment or otherwise contact us, you authorize us and our service providers to communicate with you about your request, appointment or project by the methods you provide. Message and data rates may apply.

Marketing email or text communications, when offered, are subject to the consent language presented at sign-up. You may use the unsubscribe or opt-out method included in those communications. Transactional messages concerning an active request, appointment, payment or order may still be sent where permitted.

12. Intellectual Property

The Website and its original text, branding, logos, page designs, graphics, photographs, estimator presentation, downloads and other content are owned by or licensed to Starter, Glow Group or their respective licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.

You may view and download materials for your personal evaluation of Starter products and services. You may not copy, reproduce, republish, sell, modify, distribute, scrape, frame, create derivative works from or commercially exploit Website content without prior written permission, except as permitted by law.

13. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Website for an unlawful, fraudulent, harmful or misleading purpose.
  • Submit false information, impersonate another person or interfere with another person’s use.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Website, connected systems or nonpublic information.
  • Introduce malicious code, overload the Website or bypass security or usage restrictions.
  • Use automated systems to scrape, extract or reproduce Website content without written permission.
  • Reverse engineer or misuse an estimator, booking tool, form, chat tool or other feature.

We may restrict or terminate access when we reasonably believe these terms have been violated.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Website and its content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the Website will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure or free of harmful components, or that Website content will always be complete, current or suitable for a particular project.

Nothing on the Website constitutes architectural, engineering, electrical, construction, legal, tax or other professional advice. Product suitability depends on confirmed site conditions, specifications and customer needs.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. In those jurisdictions, exclusions apply only to the extent permitted by law. These Website disclaimers do not eliminate any warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be waived.

15. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Starter, Glow Group and their owners, employees, contractors, service providers and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or loss of data, profits, revenue or business opportunity, arising from use of or inability to use the Website.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the total liability arising solely from your use of the Website will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid specifically to use the Website or $100. This limitation does not apply where prohibited by law and does not replace liability provisions in project-specific agreements.

16. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless Starter, Glow Group and their owners, employees, contractors and affiliates from third-party claims, losses, liabilities and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful misuse of the Website, your violation of these terms or content you submit through the Website. This provision does not require indemnification for our own unlawful conduct.

17. Governing Law and Disputes

These Website terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Subject to any applicable consumer protection rights and any controlling project-specific agreement, disputes concerning these Website terms will be brought in a court of competent jurisdiction serving Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

Before filing a claim, we encourage you to contact us so we can attempt to resolve the concern. Nothing in these terms prevents either party from seeking relief in small claims court when eligible or from exercising a right that cannot be waived under applicable law.

Severability and waiver

If a provision is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in effect. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of that provision.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and Conditions to reflect changes in the Website, our services, providers or legal obligations. The effective date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Changes apply when posted unless a later date is stated. Your continued use of the Website after an update means you accept the revised terms.
